Movie Night

So, tonight I watched Catch Me If You Can.
I haven't watched this movie since I was about seven years old. Back then I hated it because I didn't get to pick the movie that month. There was also an issue of having to use one of my Movie Passes on it. I'm not really sure.
Now I love it.
It is very well directed and an intriguing story. I loved the flashback scenarios and basically just wondering what Frank was going to do next. The set and fashion design were AMAZING.
If only boys still wore suits to the movie theater and girls wore darling dresses everyday.
Sigh . . .
Leo is also pretty dreamy.

Hey, Nice Shades.

Red Car, Sweet Shades, Slicked Back Hair. Darling.

Go watch this movie. Seriously.
Then let me know if you concur with my findings.

Basically the perfect movie to end a perfect day.

Now I think I'll go read this new book, which is also pretty great. I've read about two hundred pages in an hour. No joke.

Happy Watching! Love, Maggie

Makin' a Playlist

Today while I was crafting I was listening to some music. I re-discovered some old music and I decided to make up a little playlist. These are some of my favorite pieces of music. Maybe you will find some new music to listen to, I hope you do. Finding new music is one of the most exciting things to do. I absolutely love it. Here ya' go.

Pa Pa Power - Dead Man's Bones
Daylight - Matt & Kim
Boys With Girlfriends - Meiko
Always Love - Nada Surf
Little Bird Courage - Old Canes
Why Do You Let Me Stay Here? - She & Him
Before the Worst - The Script
Valentino - Diane Birch
Everybody - Ingrid Michaelson
I Am The Walrus - The Beatles

All of this music is utterly incredible. I can remember the first time I heard almost all of these songs. Isn't it always a fact that when you hear something really great, I mean really great, it sticks with you? I have to thank Abby for sending me some of these songs too(Thanks Abby!).

So take the initiative and find some new music. You would be a real peach if you sent me some new stuff to look up too. :)

Happy Listening! Love, Maggie

DIY Notebooks

Today was a crafty sort of day.

I was able to make so many super cute things. I just love love love paper crafts. Anything that involves cute patterned paper just screams my name. These things I made today are super super easy. I encourage everyone to make them. I couldn't help but smile when I was done. Its even better knowing that you transformed something ordinary into something just . . . Darling!

I just had to include my love in this picture, MOD PODGE.

Materials:
A Small Composition Notebook
Cute Paper
Mod Podge
Any other embellishments you might want to add

Directions:
- Before you start cutting anything, pick out a color scheme (My composition book had a red binding so I went with red and brown)
- Cut the base layer of paper to size. It needs to fit the cover so there is no overhang but you cannot see the color underneath. (I decided to let the red binding show)
- Decide on the pattern you want to decorate the cover with (This is where I used the circles.) Do the same for the back cover.
- Add any of your other embellishments. I decided to outline my circles and the flower with a black marker so that they would seem to stick out even more. I also added a small heart in the corner because hearts are just darling.

These Directions seem incredibly easy. Pretty much just go with your gut. You are the one that will have the chance to use the notebook, so why not make it what you want!

If you do have questions, just send me a message and I will be happy to assist you.

This next notebook is slightly kitschy, but I kinda sorta like it. I only really like it because I got to include my vintage fabric ribbon.

The directions for this notebook are almost exactly the same as the one before it.

On this notebook I added a contact paper cover to further secure all the parts. I was also thinking that I could write the date on the cover with an Expo Marker if I really felt like it.

So go ahead. Be crafty and make yourself happy by looking at some darling little notebooks.

DIY Clipboard

I just love this sweet, little Clipboard and its super easy!
Lately, I have been seeing printed clipboards popping up everywhere. It was just my luck that Waldenbooks was going out business and had a bin of clipboards at 25 cents each! There was some writing on it, but the second I laid eyes on this particular clipboard I knew I was in crafting love. Do you ever have that moment where you are so excited about a craft that you just want to go home and make it RIGHT THAT SECOND? I also had a chance to use my new Martha Stewart Crafting Paper! There is also an added bonus because its a whiteboard too! Yes thats right. You can write on it with an Expo marker and it wipes right off! I am such a nerd about these types of things. Contact paper officially amazes me. I had never used it before this craft, but I think I will be finding excuses to use it more from now on! Any ideas?

Materials:

A Clipboard (Any size or shape you desire)
Clear Contact Paper
Mod Podge
Paint Chips
Scrapbooking Paper
Ribbon or other Embellishments

Directions:

- Lay out a quick example of what you want your clipboard to look like
- Cut out your paper so it fits to size
- Mod Podge your base paper down (This was my blue and white paper)
- Glue your paint chips down (I did mine it a certain pattern by alternating color)
- Glue down the ribbon or other embellishments
- Add any other papers you think will add to the overall look (This is when I added the extra strip of paper)
- Cut your contact paper to size before taking off the backing, allowing for a slight overhang on all sides
- Slowly take off the backing of the contact paper and attach it slowly, while pressing down, to remove any air bubbles or ripples
- Gander in amazement at how pretty it is!

Quick and Easy Knitted Bow Headband!

I've been chomping at the bits to make this headband for quite some time now. A few weeks ago I was doing some online shopping and ran across a cute knitted (or possibly crocheted?) headband with a little bow on it. Being a high school student, I don't have the money to buy much so I decided to make one. I would love to give credit for the idea, but I no longer remember where I saw it. I apologize in advance for the horrible quality of the pictures and my lack of precision on my directions, I made it up as I went along and didn't really think of taking note of what I was doing. If you have any questions, leave a comment and I will try my best to answer.

What you need
  • Yarn
  • Knitting needles (I used 8s)
  • Needle and thread
Step 1: Start by knitting the band. You may vary how much you cast on based on how thick you would like you headband. I chose to cast on five times. The amount of rows you do will depend on how large your head is. Measure the circumstance of your head where you wear your headbands. Then using that measurement, take off 2-3 inches so that it will fit snugly on your head. I took 2.5 inches off. And remember, it will probably stretch! Now cast off, and set it aside.
Step 2: Now you're going to knit your bow, which will consist of two different pieces. first knit the body of the bow (I have no idea what to call it). I casted on about eight times, and made it four inches long. Cast off and set that aside along with your band. Then you want to knit the part that will scrunch your bow. I casted on twice, and made it about 2-3 inches. Now, you have all your pieces. Step 3: Put the two ends of your band together and using your needle & thread sew them together. Since you will be taking it on and off your head it may go through some wear and tear, so make sure you do a good job sewing it. Step 4: Take the body of your bow and fold it in half lengthwise, hot dog style. Now find the center and wrap your tiny piece around it, bringing both sides to the back and pull them together tightly. I like to hold the ends together and unfold the bow, making sure that it looks nice together and is centered. Try to get the ends to lay as flat as possible on the bottom and sew it together. Step 5: Put your headband on and decide where you would like to position your bow. Personally, I like it on the left side. Now, take it off and using your needle & tread sew your bow onto your band. Step 6: Put on your headband and enjoy! What are you waiting for?

I hope you all enjoyed! Happy crafting!

Our first blog post. We have thought about what we wanted to post here for ages. After much deliberation we decided to just go for it. So here it is. These are all of the things that we are interested in. (Pretty Much. Not that they would all ever fit in one post!) Sewing, Fabric, Fashion, Black and White Pictures, Weddings, Buttons, All Things Vintage, Crafting, and pretty much just being Hipsters (In our own minds at least!). We have been friends for as long as we can remember, so our interests have grown together. Whenever we had a get-together we would do something crafty and just pretty much amazing. Even though we live a ways away from each other we talk all the time about our crafting endeavors. We have been sharing ideas forever and we recently decided that we could make our own blog. So we are going to fill this blog with crafts and other things we love just to inspire all of you!
